My photographic approach is rooted in the qualities that photography uniquely embodies: the ability to extract an image from its physical context, the capture of a moment in time, and the suggestion (but not completion) of a narrative.
I think of my photographs as unguided meditations on modern American life. I am drawn to images that invite the viewer to define their own visual experience. They offer an outsider's perspective that cultivates an open sense of curiosity and wonder. By distilling fragments from the realms of the public and private, urban and rural, dramatic and commonplace, the images follow the dreamlike contours of the landscape of our times.
